Mayne Island Conservancy Society
We work with the community to conserve the ecology of SḴŦAḴ | Mayne Island and its surrounding waters for future generations. We do this through our Land Care Program, our Shoreline Care Program and our Land Protection Program. These programs underpin our work in restoration of degraded spaces – public and private, our landholder consultation program, our work on the inventory and monitoring of key nearshore ecosystems especially Kelp and Eelgrass and our work toward the long-term protection of ecologically significant lands through stewardship agreements, covenants or land purchase.
We currently own one nature reserve, have covenants on two conservation properties and contributed to the purchase of three properties representing 105 ha.
We also work with community partners, conservation organizations and government agencies at all levels including Indigenous governments.
