Ausable Bayfield Conservation Foundation (ABCF), is a registered Canadian charity realizing a vision of active community partnerships sustaining healthy watersheds.
Ausable Bayfield Conservation Foundation acquires and retains lands for conservation purposes and supports water quality protection and improvement projects, habitat enhancement and stewardship, and other conservation projects through successful community partnerships. The ABCF received its charter on June 1, 1974. Its projects include wetlands and natural areas, accessible trails and facilities, protection of conservation lands, improvements to areas of nature enjoyment and preservation, conservation education, and more.
The watersheds of the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Foundation area are located along the southeast shore of Lake Huron, in southwestern Ontario, north of London, Ontario, Canada. Communities include Grand Bend, Thedford, Port Franks and Exeter and a surrounding area stretching from Arkona, Parkhill, and Ailsa Craig in the south to Bayfield and Brucefield and Clinton in the north to Hensall and Seaforth in the east. This is a vibrant area with strong agriculture and food production, manufacturing, tourism and recreation, and heritage and culture. The area also has a demonstrated need for adding wetlands, improving forest conditions and soil health, and protection of water quality, and increasing habitat for living things.
