Congratulations to Denise Burns, Grand Prize Winner in American Friends “Oh, Canada” photo contest. Her photo of the Morningstar Mill, at Decew Falls in St. Catherine’s Ontario, portrays a Canadian heritage site that adjoins the renowned 550 mile-long Bruce Trail.
American Friends’ partner, the Bruce Trail Conservancy (BTC), acquires land to ensure a secure and permanent conservation corridor to preserve the trail itself and the experience of hiking it. BTC and American Friends work together to protect the 34% of the Bruce Trail corridor still vulnerable to development. Denise’s image will be featured on the cover of American Friends’ 2021 Calendar and the next issue of our publication Among Friends.
We received more than 500 photos from Americans and Canadian amateur photographers. Thank you to everyone who entered and promoted the contest and Canadian conservation on social media.
The Grand Prize Winner and four Runners Up were selected by John D’Onofrio. John is a widely published photographer and the owner/editor/publisher of Adventures NW Magazine. The top five images in each category were chosen by popular vote.
